Pakisatn will be hosting the ODI series between
Pakistan and Zimbabwe on Tuesday after the successful completion of the T20
series. Though Pakisatn has won the T20 series but Zimbabwe gave a tough time
as both the matches were final over finish. Pakistan is favorite for the ODIs
but any upset cannot be overlooked. The three match one day series is very
important for Pakistan. ODI rankings of Pakistan declined after a recent 0-3
defeat by Bangladesh. Pakistan’s ICC ranking for ODIs is 9 currently meaning
Pakistan is facing serious threat to participate in the ICC Champions Trophy
2017. Pakistan will have to be in top eight of the ICC ODI rankings on 30
September of this year to secure a place in the trophy. So they will have to
defeat Zimbabwe in almost all ODIs to help their cause.
Former captain Shoaib Malik and bowler Mohammad Sami
have been recalled in the one day squad for this series. Pakistan batting,
which failed to pose any threat to Bangladeshi bowlers in their last series,
will get boost with inclusion of Malik. The hosts will take advantage of Sami’s
experience especially in crucial overs. Pakistan also has called back opener
Ahmed Shahzad and uncapped Immad Wasim, batsman Babar Azam also has been given
chances recalling all-rouders Hammad Azam and Anwar Ali. Hard-hitting opener
Mukhtar Ahmed who scored two fifties in the T20s against Zimbabwe could not
secure a place in the ODI squad. Fawad Alam, all-rounder Saad Nasim, opener
Sami Aslam and spinner Zulfiqar Babar were also dropped from the ODI squad.
The two matches of the T20 series remained a close
fight being final over finish. Now the ODI series has started which is expected
to witness great competition because the losers of T20 series will try to balance
their tour by winning the series while winners will try to add to their winning
run. www.tickets4pk.com is helping cricket fans to see fighting both the teams
