Pakistan targets to win ODI series to pick Champions Trophy place

Pakistan are confident and their morale is high after winning the Test series against Sri Lanka and they want to bring forward this passion into the five-match ODI series which starts from 11 July in Dambulla. Pakistan are in desperate need to win the series to keep their Champions Trophy hopes alive which is to be held in England in 2017. This feud will start when Bangladesh takes on South Africa in the opening match of the three-match series in Mirpur on Friday and Pakistan face Sri Lanka in first of the five matches on Saturday in Dambulla. Bangladesh has currently 93 points with 7th position in the ICC ranking table and they need only one win to keep their pre-series points. They will drop to 90 points if they fail to win any match.


Pakistan are on ninth position with 87 points and they will surpass West Indies possessing 88 points by one point if they can win the series 3-2 or better than this. Pakistan can get maximum 94 points if they win all the matches and will descend to 84 points if they have failure to record a win. The last date to determine the qualification of teams is 30 September 2015. Pakistan and Bangladesh can consolidate their positions for the tournament if they perform well in the upcoming series because West Indies is not playing any series immediately.
